Memory Bricks, and Canopy Installation Project
Byrd Building Consulting LLC, The Braxton Byrd Foundation, Cruise In Auto Spa, and BOLD Multimedia are collaborating on a meaningful project to enhance the Food and Shelter site. This initiative involves relocating Cruise-In Auto Spa's drying canopy, currently situated in front of the car wash, to Food and Shelter's property.
Project Overview
The students in the Haskell & Irene Lemon Construction Science Division at The University of Oklahoma, enrolled in the Intro to Construction Management class, have a service-learning requirement. As a valuable learning opportunity, they will actively participate in the canopy installation project.
The canopy will be installed between the two buildings at Food and Shelter. Currently, there are drainage issues and an unsightly appearance. Constructing a concrete base under the canopy will provide a durable foundation and redirect the water. Poles for hammocks, bricks from the Pave the Home fundraisers, and filler bricks will be laid to complete the project. This will provide an additional space for guests to rest, park their bikes, and eat their lunch. Brick donations will not only pave the way for this project but also honor a loved one. Trinity Brick Sales has generously offered to complete the project with any additional pavers required.
Pave the Way Home
This initiative allows supporters to purchase engraved bricks for $100, which will be used to line the base of the project. Each brick can include a name or a message of hope for Food and Shelter guests.
This project will create a functional and welcoming space for Food and Shelter guests while also paying tribute to the community's generosity. Through this effort, we can Pave the Way Home and provide comfort to those in need.
